Hound refers to dog, as it is a synonym for a dog that is used by hunters. There are many hound dogs like the Afghan Hound, the Basset Hound, the Beagle, the Dachshund, the Greyhound, the Andalusian Hound, ... For the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) they are part of group 6 'Scent hounds and related breeds' or group 10 'Sight hounds'.
